The first step in tackling a problem is to quantify the size
of it! A full storage audit is a key part of any Discovery
Phase we undertake. As well as completing an audit we will
make an assessment of current operating structures and practices.
During an audit we will note file media types and their spatial
orientation within cabinets, or on shelves. We will record
all loose files and papers not stored in cabinets. The Discovery
Phase will also establish ownership of all cabinet contents.
The gathered information is processed through our database
system enabling us to report back on a global, departmental,
team or individual level, as required.
Our project report will highlight key indicators and put
forward solutions to achieve a reduction in global hardcopy
levels.
A quantification of storage levels is an essential tool in:
Design - Confirming a block plan, initiating a detailed
plan or sizing a building.
Media Selection - Identification and qualification
of most suitable file media type.
Cabinet specification - Ensuring the appropriate cabinet
configurations are selected.
Cabinet ordering - Ensuring only cabinets that are
required are ordered.
Move preparation - Space allocations will simplify
the move management process.
